Build an enduring collaboration with an expert support team that understands your organization's needs.

Whether you work in Accessibility Services, Human Resources, or another coordinating role, our solution-oriented team can help make your job easier. TypeWell is a cost-effective and advanced speech-to-text accommodation that’s easy to implement and maintain at your school, business, or organization.

To provide access to substantive content in classes or meetings, you need a skilled speech-to-text transcriber — not just a note taker. We offer the most effective training in our industry. TypeWell transcribers use advanced software that’s continually modernized with new features and dictionary updates.

Which path is right for your organization?

  • We want to contract with an experienced, independent provider or company to fill an immediate need

    Timeframe: within hours or days

    • You tell us when and where you need TypeWell services
    • We connect you with local talent, refer you to a reputable agency, or contract with you directly
    • You receive on-site or remote transcribing services as soon as possible

Over time, we communicate regularly with you and your transcribers to ensure that everything works smoothly!

  • We need expert assistance with recruiting and training a new transcriber

    Train-to-Hire Program: 9-12 months

    We cover all of this:

    • Developing a job description for your school or organization
    • ALL up-front recruiting costs, including job postings, background checks, etc.
    • Pre-screening and interviews to help you select the most capable candidates
    • ALL up-front training and mentoring costs, including the Basic Skills Course fee, a supplemental Companion Course, and one-on-one mentoring during the first semester
    • Identifying skill-appropriate assignments for your new transcribers to continue honing their skills

    Your organization:

    • Pays TypeWell hourly for the transcribers’ real-time services (ONLY once they are providing communication access for your students or employees and ONLY during a temporary practicum that lasts approximately one semester)
    • Has the option to directly hire trained, confident transcribers who have completed mentoring and a semester-long practicum under TypeWell’s expert guidance

Over time, we communicate regularly with you and your transcribers to ensure that everything works smoothly!

  • We want to hire and train our own staff/employees to be TypeWell transcribers

Timeframe for hiring and/or training your own staff transcribers:  6-9 months

    You:

    • Develop a job description and job posting
    • Recruit, select, and hire one or more candidates to train
    • Pay TypeWell upfront to enroll your candidates in the Basic Skills Course
    • Support and monitor your own candidates through the training
    • Identify skill-appropriate assignments for your new transcribers to continue honing their skills
    • Provide mentoring and feedback for your new transcribers during the first year

    We:

    • Support your candidates by providing personal guidance and feedback during the Basic Skills Course
    • Offer a supplemental Companion Course and one-on-one mentoring (see pricing)

Over time, we communicate regularly with you and your transcribers to ensure that everything works smoothly!

I’ve been TypeWell transcribing, whether full-time or part-time, for 9 years. Over those years this has been an incredibly fulfilling, enjoyable, and adaptable career. I’ve developed a lot of affection for the people I’ve worked with even though I never met most of them face to face. I also know that this work allowed my life a kind of flexibility that few other kinds of work would; for that, and for the sense of purpose it provided, I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of this community.

In my personal work as a service provider and organizer, TypeWell has been a powerful resource for providing communication access to consumers. When the need for a concise and faithful record of the speaker’s message is vital, the meaning-for-meaning transcripts created through the TypeWell method have been an effective alternative to verbatim captioning. I hear frequently from clients who tell me that transcribing has significantly improved their quality of life.

The instructors we’ve worked with have really enjoyed having this type of accommodation in the classroom. They know they need to make their lecture accessible to the deaf/hard-of-hearing students in their class. With TypeWell, they know the material is all getting across to the student, so they’re confident that the student is receiving all of the information.

Our captioning company started as a CART-only business. We soon discovered that many students actually preferred TypeWell. We began providing TypeWell services to schools and came to love it ourselves. Today, many of our business and organizational clients use TypeWell for meetings and webinars. It’s a great, sometimes underrated product.

TypeWell has been a wonderful addition to my interpreting company. The headiest response has been from our consumers: the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students and professionals using TypeWell for their classes, public lectures, graduations, and interviews. The service providers are consummate professionals.

I truly appreciate the incredible training TypeWell provides. When I need more transcribers, I use TypeWell’s efficient online screening tools to filter out all but the best candidates. I then sponsor their enrollment in TypeWell’s basic skills course knowing they will receive excellent training and personal attention. This allows me to maintain focus on the daily task of service coordination. I check in with the trainees as needed and am always kept abreast of their progress by their instructor. TypeWell’s training process and staff are phenomenal.
